This is a very rare Art Nouveau house / villa in a very rare place known as l’Etang-la-ville. Everything in the house is original: tiles, hand painted verriere / stained glass, fireplaces (7 total), stones, water fountains, built-in furniture, etc… All appliances are modern of course. Bringing this huge house back to life was not a simple task. It was not just renovated, but restored to its original beauty. Every effort was made to stay true to the architect/artist’s vision (whose identity we are still looking for, getting very warm)!

The house is on a 3,000 m2 (36,000 sq.ft) lot, one of the largest in l’Etang-la-ville, if not the largest. It offers enough room to add both a swimming pool and a tennis court that would be barely noticeable. The house has a living surface of 350 m2. This does not include one 80m2 and two 15m2 terraces, a 30m2 Master Bedroom balcony, and a full 150m2 basement slightly above ground which includes a garage for one sedan or up to two compact cars, a wine cellar, laundry room, pool table room, and a gardening/tools room with direct access to the garden.

But really, measuring the surface alone does not even do justice to this house. What makes it really stand out are its incredible volumes, with 11.5 ft high ceilings, and a stunning 30 ft high “verriere” (painted and stained glass window) rising along a wide staicase from the ground all the way up to the roof (which you can see in the first image).

As for l’Etang-la-ville, it is not the only small village in France, but it just might be the only one that close to Paris, which has survived the fast expansion and modernisation of the Ile de France region. With amazing views of the hills and forests and few sounds other than singing birds, it is hard to believe that Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Versailles, and even Paris are just minutes away.

The village of L’Etang-la-ville is like an Oasis in Paris. Louis the XIV chose it as his place of retreat from Versailles in the 17th century. At the turn of the 20th century, artists such as Bonnard and Vuillard moved in and created the post-impressionist movement Les Nabis. Now you can too.

Junior School Bougival The Junior School Bougival enjoys a beautiful wooded location on sloping ground overlooking the Seine valley. The site is secluded, safe and very pretty. Some 320 pupils occupy classrooms spaced around a central play area, with a main building containing offices, bright spacious rooms, a resource centre and swimming-pool. The children follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales. They are taught by well-qualified British and (for French lessons) French staff with a genuine interest in their pupils. With a French lesson every day, specialist tuition in music and sport, the children receive an excellent all-round education. The School caters for children of all abilities and the pupils achieve excellent results at SAT examinations in Year 6. Visitors to the School often comment on the happy, focussed atmosphere within the classrooms. We provide a hot lunch for all children, and we enjoy a very good relationship with parents, some of whom offer activities or help out in the classroom. A bus service transports children to the School from Paris and the surrounding area, and the supervision is carried out by members of staff.
Junior School (Croissy) The Junior School Croissy, located on the Senior School site, provides education for pupils at Key Stage 2 (Years 3 - 6). Housed in its own area of the school, ensuring a welcoming and supportive primary school environment, pupils also have access to specialist facilities such as the Sports Hall and ICT suite. Music, sport and extra curricular activities form an important part of school life. An outdoor education trip to the Ardeche is part of the curriculum for Year 6 and pupils are also invited to participate in the School’s annual ski trip. Opportunities are given to some of the older pupils to travel to the occasional international sporting fixture and a team represents the school in the annual ECIS Primary Maths Quest. A close link with a local French primary school, with a regular programme of joint activities, enables pupils to flourish in their local environment.
Senior School (Croissy) The initial charm of the Senior School is its idyllic situation along a calm, beautiful stretch of the Seine, a ‘château’ concealing a modern school. The Géode

Watch IMAX and 3D IMAX movies in this state-of-the-art futuristic theater. The Geode is located North-East of Paris, in the Parc de la Vilette. It was inaugurated May 6, 1985. Shaped like a sphere, it hosts one screening room with 400 seats equiped with a giant hemispheric screen with a surface of 1000 m2 and 26 m diameter. We are just one regional Association that is part of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, formed in 1971 by a group of Los Angeles based writers for children. This is the only international organization to offer a variety of services to people who write, illustrate, or
share a vital interest in children’s literature. The SCBWI acts as a network for the exchange of
knowledge between writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators,
booksellers and others involved with literature for young people. There are currently more than
19,000 members worldwide, in over 70 regions, making it the largest children’s writing

WICE is a non-profit multinational Association offering hundreds of cultural and educational
programs in English - including a university certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign
Language (TEFL). The majority of programs run between September and June, however, each
summer it sponsors the week-long Paris Writers’ Workshop and special one-day conferences.
WICE members have access to French-English conversation groups, a bilingual book group, a
resource library and lending library, and discounts at a number of museums, stores, and activities
in Paris. The organization is managed by volunteers and provides a welcoming environment, a
place to maintain or develop new skills, to make friends and build professional contacts. Number
of members - over 800. Most members are located in the Paris, 75 area, followed by 92 then 91.
All leadership positions (President, VP Programs, Director of Volunteers, etc.) are on a volunteer

Provides opportunities for women to meet together in friendship and to assist newcomers to
make a successful transition to life in Paris. An orientation Program, “Bloom Where You’re
Planted,” for English-speaking newcomers to Paris is held the first three Tuesdays in October. A
guide to living in Paris, the “Bloom Book: is updated yearly and available for purchase. The
Information Center is located in the Franco-American Community Center of the American Church in Paris.

Dance and general education classes are both free. Lodging & meals are not.
The program is organized over 6 years, with 6 divisions for girls and 6 divisions for boys.
Mornings are for general education, afternoons for dance.
Every year, students must pass an exam to move on to the next division. Some may have to double, sometimes triple a division, before moving on to the next one, or dropping out. Some may skip a division if they reach a higher level sooner.

Swimming Pool:
Swimming pools are not that uncommon in l’Etang-la-Ville, so it should not be too hard to find a solid pool construction company in the area. Some of them are even heated. This one was taken from one of our neighbors’ garden.

Turning the 3rd Floor into an Independent Apartment with an Elevator.

This could be convenient if you want to sublet, or accommodate a family member. The Grande Salle would make a beautiful living / dining room. There is already a kitchen installed, a bathroom, lavatory, and two nice bedrooms.

Terrace / Veranda on the roof, with 360 view of the whole region.

This may actually be the simplest project if you just want a terrace. A veranda might be a bit more complicated but would be ideal for the winter, especially on sunny days. There is already a spiral staircase leading to the roof, right above bedroom 7. That’s where the terrace would be. Right now, the opening is just big enough to get through. It would need to be enlarged for easier access. Also, the part of the roof to be used, the square surface right above bedroom 7, would need to be flattened, and a nice Art Nouveau metallic barrier installed all around.
